James W. Segebart, age 72, of Carlisle, and formerly of Millersburg, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at the residence of his daughter
He was born April 12, 1945 in Ashland, PA to the late Agnes Frances (Darrah) Segebart and Walter Wiliam Segebart of Harrisburg. James was the widower of Sandra K. (Machan) Segebart.
Jim was a retired City of Harrisburg firefighter, serving for over 30 years. He was also a former employee of Harrisburg River Rescue. He was a 1963 graduate of William Penn High School and he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. Jim was an avid knife and model boat collector, enjoyed going to public auctions and going to the casino, whether it was Hollywood Casino or Atlantic City.
In addition to his father, James is survived by: two daughters, Christine M. (husband Jerald) Metcalf of Carlisle and Kathleen A. (husband Michael) Dreese of Millersburg; two sisters, Mary A. (husband George) Mosel of Harrisburg and Louise (husband Rick) Koppenheffer of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren, Gavyn, Colton, Keri, Jamie, Jace and Cassi. In addition to his mother and wife, James was preceded in death by a sister, Roseann Segebart.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg, PA with Rev. Edward J. Quinlan as Celebrant. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. There will be a visitation at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of PA, 100 W. Station Square, Suite 1920, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
