James T. “Jim” Alspaugh, 81, of Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle.
He was born in Carlisle on June 6, 1937 to the late Thomas and Clara (Gilbert) Alspaugh.
Jim was a 1955 graduate of Carlisle High School and later completed courses to become a licensed realtor in Pennsylvania at the Howard Real Estate School. He worked at Lear / C.H. Masland and Sons for over 45 years in the International Union of Engineers and later worked another 20 years as a realtor in the Carlisle area. Jim was a member of Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, a life member of Penn Township Fire Company, Walnut Bottom Rod and Gun Club, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Airee 1299. He was a partner and friend of the former McKay Bar and Lounge. Jim enjoyed helping others with their needs and traveling, especially to Mexico, the Bahamas and Florida.
He is survived by his friend and caregiver Betty Conrad of Carlisle. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Jack Alspaugh and one sister, June Alspaugh.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jim to The Salvation Army, 20 East Pomfret Street Carlisle, PA 17013.
