James Richard “Jim” Myers, CW2 (Retired, U.S. Army), a 44-year resident of Carlisle, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at the age of 84.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret and their sons, Anthony Richard Myers, James Michael Myers, Patrick Joseph Myers, David Wayne Myers, Stephen Paul Myers, John Francis Myers and Thomas Alan Myers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Richard Myers and Evelyn Reaver as well as his third son, Vincent Edward Myers.
In addition to his 20 years of service to the nation in the U.S. Army, his wife Margaret and seven of his eight sons served in the U.S. military for a total of over 110 years of service to the country.
He loved his family, his country and was a devout Catholic, having been a member of the Carlisle Barracks Mary Queen of Peace Catholic community for over 40 years. In addition, he was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and his beloved Boston Red Sox.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, PA with Father Joshua Cavender as celebrant. There will be a visitation at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with Military Honors being provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
