James Olin Wharam Jr., 81, of Carlisle, died Saturday January 14, 2012 at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle.
Born September 11, 1930 in Arvonia, VA, Buckingham County, a son of the late James Olin Sr. and Mattie Elizabeth Price Wharam.
James spent the last few years of his life working as a shuttle driver for the Appalachian Inn, Carlisle. He was truly a people person and will be remembered for the simple and generous life that he led.
Surviving James are: one sister; Anne E. Fekete of Portsmouth, VA, one brother; Dewey J. Wharam and his wife Debra of Carlisle, three daughters; Vickie and Jaime Wharam both of Hopewell, VA and Catherine Turner and her husband Robert of Emmett, ID, two grandchildren; David Perkins and Kiley Rae Perkins both of Emmett, ID, two great-grandchildren; Joel and Lola, several nieces and nephews and his very dear friends; Greg and Edna Miracle and their children, Shannon, Stephanie and Shawn.
As per James’s wishes there will be no service or viewing, he will donate his body to the University of Tennessee Knoxville, Forensic Anthropology Center.
Arrangements are being handled by Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 219 N. Hanover St. Carlisle.
