James L. "Jim" Neusbaum

James L. “Jim” Neusbaum, age 78, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital.
Jim was born on June 7, 1939 in Carlisle, to the late Forrest and Ellen M. (nee Whitcomb) Neusbaum.
Jim was raised in the Presbyterian faith. He graduated from the Carlisle High School, class of 1957. Jim entered the United States Air Force and served his country honorably during the Vietnam conflict. Jim retired from the South Middleton School District after 20 years. He enjoyed doing handy work for Neusbaum Brothers Home Improvements, and outdoor activities such as hunting and especially farming. Jim used to play the guitar at the South Mountain Fairgrounds and enjoyed country music. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1299, Carlisle, PA.
Jim is survived by: three daughters, Kathy J. Corl of Daytona Beach, FL, Tracey L. Phillips (and husband Angelo) of Lancaster, PA, Sherry L. Neusbaum of Malvern, PA; his significant other Dianna L. Shorb of Gettysburg, PA; two brothers, John W. Neusbaum (and wife Terry), and Richard G. Neusbaum ( and wife Kim), both of Carlisle, PA; three sisters, Linda R. Nopson, Mary E. Reneker, and Barbara A. Neusbaum, all of Carlisle, PA; six grandchildren, Stewart and Jonathan Corl, Kyle Richwine, Krissy Hancock, Jordan and Anna Phillips; six great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Kay E. Neusbaum, Mifflintown, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd. Carlisle, PA, with Reverend Richard L. Reese officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of services. Following services, there will be military honors provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s honor to the American Heart Association, Capital Region Division, at 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043, and/or the Arthritis Foundation Central PA Chapter, at 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 204, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
