James "Jim" Joseph Carlin

September 8, 1948 — October 22, 2015

James "Jim" Joseph Carlin, age 67, of Boiling Springs, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at his residence with his loving family at his side.
He was born on September 8, 1948 in Philadelphia to the late James Everett and Marie Forsythe Carlin.
Jim retired from HERCO (Hershey Entertainment Co.), Hershey, PA as the Director of Human Resources. In his retirement, he enjoyed his job working at Home Depot. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Bloomsburg University. He was a very active PIAA lacrosse referee in Central PA. He attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle. Jim was very proud to have been a volunteer for the "Voice of Hope" for the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Payne Carlin, of Boiling Springs; two sons, Sam Carlin of Mechanicsburg and Tom Carlin of Philadelphia; two daughters, Aimee (and husband Mike) Travisano of Mechanicsburg and Melissa (and husband Greg) Hoy of Swarthmore; a brother, Steven (and wife Laureen) Carlin of Broomall, PA; two sisters, Dorothy Kennedy of Kimberton, PA and Pat (and husband Mike) Schumann of Spring City, PA; three grandsons, Jack Travisano and Nash and Penn Hoy; three nieces, Katie Schumann, Courtney (and husband Derek) Hardison and Stephanie Carlin; and two nephews, Bryan Kennedy and Christopher Carlin.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle with the Very Rev. William C. Forrey as Celebrant. There will be a visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Suite 100, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
