James Francis Smith, Jr., 64, of Carlisle, died Friday, October 4, 2013 at his home.
Born March 21, 1949 in Cumberland, MD, he was a son of James Francis Smith, Sr. and the late Shirley Jean Martin Smith.
He was a life member of the VFW Post #6667 in West Virginia. James was a member of Community Christian Fellowship where he served on the Prayer Team and Meals Ministry. He enjoyed yard work, planting flowers and tending to his vegetable garden. He was a truck driver for twenty-one years with Overnight Transportation and UPS Freight. He loved his cats and enjoyed cooking for others. James proudly served his country during Vietnam in the US Navy.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Carol Smith of Carlisle; step-mother, Ramona Smith of Ft. Ashby, WV; son, Michael D. Smith of Hagerstown, MD; sister, Jane Fairall (and husband, Dave) of Cumberland, MD; step-daughter, Siri Skowronek of Carlisle; niece, Emily Simpson of Cumberland, MD; and nephew, Chris Fairall (and wife, Wendy) of Centralia, WA. Also surviving are five step-siblings and five great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Community Christian Fellowship, 360 York Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Sandy Adams, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
