James F. Kleinklaus

April 9, 1949 — August 16, 2020

Jim Kleinklaus of Carlisle, Pennsylvania passed away on August 16th, 2020. Jim was born in Queens, NY on April 9, 1949 to Thomas and Clara Kleinklaus. They lived on Long Island along with his brother Tom and sister Janice. Jim graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities from Dowling College in Oakdale, NY.
Jim’s more than 31 year career as a Senior Executive in advertising took him from Long Island and Syracuse NY, to Connecticut, Michigan and on to Pennsylvania. Companies he worked for included the Syracuse Newspapers, The Hartford Courant, The Detroit News and Free Press, Cox Target Media, The Sentinel and Comcast. In retirement, he created JK Advertising Agency.
Jim is survived by wife, Sherry, brother Tom(Ginny); daughters Leigh Kleinson (Toni) and Aimee Campbell, sons Scott Kleinkaus (Erica) and Ryan Gerace (Jolene); grandchildren Eva Gerace and Colton Campbell.
After much love for his family, Jim’s passions were his music and auto racing. Anyone that knew him was aware of how seriously he took both. His music career started in NYC in the early ‘70’s when he started the James Allen Band which opened many times for Billy Joel early in his career. Most recently, he and bass player Mike Kaufman (Jim Kleinklaus Duo) were in the process of recording music he wrote and performed. He was also honored with 2 Formula V championships over the years and was looking forward to getting back on the track this fall. This is just a snapshot of the way he lived his life.
A family service will be scheduled in the fall in Syracuse, NY
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Jim’s name to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are in the care of Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, Carlisle PA
