James Edward “Jim” Morton, Sr., age 80, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at PinnacleHealth Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born August 27, 1936 in Bellefonte, PA to the late Frank and Rubye Morton.
Jim enjoyed a long successful career in selling cable television products. He loved golfing with his friends at the Carlisle Barracks Golf Course. Jim served as minority inspector for many years during elections. He was a member of: Elks BPO Lodge #578; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299; American Legion Post #893, Milesburg; and Waggoners United Methodist Church, Carlisle.
He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Mae Ann (Custer) Morton of Carlisle; three sons, Steven C. (wife Joanne) Morton of Mechanicsburg, James E. “Jimmy” Morton, Jr. of Harrisburg and Gerald “Randy” (wife Nicole) Morton of Camp Hill; five grandchildren, Christopher, Sophia, Riley, Maura and Brielle; and three great-grandchildren, Kylea, Ruby and Jake. In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his brother, George Morton.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Dr. Richard E. Denison, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville with full military honors. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waggoners United Methodist Church, 1055 Longs Gap Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
