James A. "Jim" Barrick, age 75, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
He was born March 7, 1941 in Newville to the late Ralph L. and Hazel (Beaston) Barrick.
Jim retired from PPG as a foreman. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy onboard the U.S.S. Independence. Jim enjoyed travelling, especially to the Smokey Mountains and Myrtle Beach and always looked forward to eating at different restaurants in Myrtle Beach and Tennessee. He had an extensive collection of animal figurines.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sherye (Ellwein) Barrick of Carlisle; son Thomas R. Barrick (and significant other, Wendy Leibfried) of Mechanicsburg and Tylor R. Barrick of Carlisle; brothers, Richard Barrick, Ronald Barrick and Eugene Barrick; sisters, Martha Brenizer, Shirley Dunlap, Jennette Albert and Bonnie May; and four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina L. Barrick and many beloved family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Kenneth Kramer officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a viewing on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Capital Region Division, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043 or to a charity of one's choice in Jim's memory.
