August 13, 1936 — January 9, 2016

Jacob Ralph "Pete" Shank, age 79, of McAlisterville, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, January 9, 2016 at his home with his three loving children by his side.
He was born on August 13, 1936 to the late Jacob and Ida Ferster Shank and was the widower of Hilma Fay Leister Shank who passed on January 9, 1998 and to whom he had been married for 43 years.
Pete was a concrete contractor in McAlisterville and a former sub-contractor for Haubert Homes (S&A Home Builders) of Mifflintown and its local branches. He enjoyed spending time with his caring family. After retiring, Pete enjoyed riding his Cub Cadet riding mower up and down his front lawn and helping any of his relatives, neighbors and anyone he could. Pete enjoyed socializing at many of the local businesses, especially his visits at Stop 35 and many of the other local restaurants in the area. He had a love for cars, especially his Cadillacs. Most of all, family meant a great deal to him. He liked to travel to the beaches at Ocean City, NJ, Niagara Falls, NY, Florida and the tropical cruises with family and friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Lucy K. (and husband David) Feczko of Mechanicsburg and Tammy L. (and husband Larry) Nickell of Reading; one son, Eric S. (and wife Brigitte) Shank of Harrisburg; two brothers, Ernest "Mo" (and wife Carolyn) Shank of Portland, OR and Earl "Salty" (and wife Vonnie) Shank of McAlisterville; two sisters, Charlene Alexander of Mifflintown and Miriam "Mim" (and husband Dan) Wert of Lititz; five grandchildren, Peter F. and Leah N. Feczko, Amelia Fay and Lottie Rae Nickell and Matthew Carter Shank; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Clement, Lloyd, Wayne, Orlen, Chester and John Shank.
