Isabelle A. Ellerman, 85, of New Bloomfield passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, May 17, 2012 at home.
Born April 30, 1927 in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Philip Lester Cummings and Blanche (Diehl) Cummings. She was the widow of the late F. Richard Ellerman.
She graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1945. She worked various jobs at Peach Glen Foods and Columbia Minerva Yarn Company. She retired from Kinney Shoe Corporation. She was also a hardworking farm wife who loved baking and canning.
She enjoyed putting puzzles together, playing golf, crochetting, watching Wheel of Fortune, going to New Bloomfield Senior Center, and spending time with her loving family, friends, and neighbors.
Isabelle attended Plainfield First Church of God and Centre Presbyterian Church in Loysville.
She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Rickard of Newville, and one son Leroy E. “Pete†Ellerman, Sr. and his wife Ruth. She had six grandsons (Lee, Mike, Dennis, Adam, Chet, and Zack) and one granddaughter, Cherie, and 19 great grandchildren. Isabelle is also survived by one sister, Patricia Besore and husband Frank of Shippensburg and lots of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Eichelberger and Polly Reamer and two brothers Raymond and Floyd Cummings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Pastor Arlene Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
