Isabel G. Lehman

Isabel Lehman, 97, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Chapel Pointe, Carlisle. Born January 28, 1927 in Lower Frankford Township, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Bertie (Nailor) Gillaugh. She was the loving wife of 68 years to the late Carl W. Lehman. 

Isabel was a graduate of Carlisle High School Class of 1944. She worked as church secretary for the Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church (now the Meeting House) for 43 years beginning in 1948 and retiring in 1991. At the church she was active in the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She taught children’s classes including Good News Club and later enjoyed co-leading the adult Volunteer Fellowship class. Love of her Lord, family and friends were central to her life. Isabel was the last surviving charter member of Farm Women #9, of N. Middleton Twp. She was proud of the dairy farm she owned with her husband Carl, and it was their pleasure to host many get togethers on the family farm. She also enjoyed playing Rook and jigsaw puzzling. 

Isabel is survived by her daughters Linda R. Brehm (husband Robert), Carlisle and Carla J. Hunt (husband David), Reinholds, and her son, Steven R. Lehman (wife Shirley), Carlisle. She was predeceased by her infant son Theodore. She is survived by 7 grandchildren: Kristia Ludwick (Jeff); Eric Brehm (Brooke); Erin Reiff (Randy); Jonathan Hunt; Susanne Lessard (Jonathan); Steven Lehman, Jr. (Mary); and Sean Lehman (Karolena). 17 great-grandchildren and her sister, Berta Chronister, Carlisle. In addition to her husband, son, and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Frances Jumper Foltz, Ann Heberlig, and Phoebe Giagnocova, and step-brothers Cletus Lehman and Galen Lehman.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30 at The Meetinghouse, 1155 Walnut Bottom Rd, Carlisle, PA with the Revs. Kenneth Hoke and Bob Verno co-officiating. A visitation will be held beginning at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. There will be no public viewing. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Isabel’s family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the loving care she received from Chapel Pointe Fellowship Household staff and Hospice of Central PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoffman Funeral and Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
