Helen M. Witmer

Helen M. Witmer, age 91, of Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 25, 1924 in Middletown, PA to the late Jacob L. and Muriel N. Fornwalt Snavely and was the widow of the late Henry E. Witmer who passed May 10, 2003.
Helen was a graduate of the former John Harris High School in Harrisburg and retired as a sales clerk from the former Woolworth Department Store in Carlisle. She was a longtime member of the former Grace United Methodist Church, now Carlisle United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, square dancing in the past with her husband Henry and being a member of AARP.
She is survived by two daughters, Rose M. Fulton of Carlisle and Janet L. (and husband Rick) Sweigart of Elizabethtown; a sister, Evelyn Zerance of Camp Hill; two granddaughters, Sandra M. Kopp of Middletown and Heather L. Dougherty of Harrisburg; and two great-grandsons, Adan Henry Kopp and Cole Adam Kopp.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church, 45 S. West Street, Carlisle, PA with Rev. James E. VanZandt officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Following the service, the family will receive friends and relatives.
