Helen C. Hockenberry

Helen C. Hockenberry, 98, of Carlisle, died Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Thornwald Home.

Born in November 30, 1924 in Newville, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Grace (Bitner) Neidigh and wife of the late Melvin Farner (1959) and the late Frank Hockenberry (2001).

Helen retired from Bedford Shoe Company. She enjoyed gardening, canning and baking.

Helen was notorious for sending greeting cards to anyone in need, always sending and receiving over 100 cards at Christmas.

A great joy of hers was always having company on Sundays and there was plenty of food and pie for everyone.

Survivors include her daughter: Shirley Farner Lebo Knarr; her son: Terry Farner (Kristy); her daughter-in-law: Janice Farner; her grandchildren: Stacy Breon (Tony), Kelli Wolf (Thom), Keith Knarr (Amy), Chad Knarr (Michael), Stephanie Jones (Alan), Sheila Fox and Brent Farner; eight great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her son: George (Andy) Farner, daughter: Nancy Farner, grandsons: Kevin Farner and Scott Shenk, granddaughters: Kristina Enyart and Shannon Zarra; sons-in-law: Ronald Lebo and Clair Knarr and her 11 siblings: Mabel Armolt, Edith Cressler, Edna Kuhn, Roy Neidigh, Fred Neidigh, Beulah Gutshall, Eugene Neidigh, Pearl Finkenbinder, Elva Wadel, Ray Neidigh and Gerald Neidigh.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service 11 AM Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, where Pastor William Pipp will be officiating. The family will greet guests after 9 AM prior to the service.

Interment will follow the service in Prospect Hill cemetery, Newville.
