Harold R. Calaman, 89, of Carlisle died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
Born September 13, 1924 in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Ira & Romaine March Calaman.
He retired from C. H. Masland and Sons after forty years of faithful service. He was a member of the Brethren In Christ Church, Carlisle. Harold was also a member of the North Middleton Fire Company and the Senior Citizens. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar for his personal enjoyment. He was an avid sports fan especially the New York Yankees. Harold loved cheering for his grandsons at their baseball games.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Arlene Calaman of Carlisle. (they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in December); one son, Gary Calaman (and wife, Patricia) of Carlisle; one brother, Harry Calaman of New Hampshire; one sister, Jean Hinkle of Carlisle; and two grandsons, Brian M. and Kevin D. Calaman. Also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Leon, Dale, Wayne, and Kenneth Calaman and one sister, Helen Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2013 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Bishop Kenneth O. Hoke officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Monday at the funeral home.
