Harold Guy "Butch" Bowers, 61, of Carlisle died Monday, July 14, 2014 at his home.
Born March 22, 1953 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Harold C. Sr. and Martha J. Fry Bowers.
He was a huge fan of all types of racing, especially NASCAR. He was a member of Old Timers, Latimore. Butch was a former late model driver at Silver Spring Speedway. He enjoyed fishing and taking family trips to Twirly Top.
Surviving are his wife of forty-two years, Shirley Bowers of Carlisle; two sons, Barry Bowers (and girlfriend, Amy Brenizer) of Carlisle and Frank Porter of Dauphin; one sister, Tammy Sheaffer of Carlisle; two grandsons, Gunner and Zachary Bowers; one granddaughter, Oceana Porter; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Paxton (and husband, Michael) of Newville, Gloria May (and husband, Charles) of Mt. Holly Springs and Betty Lay Lebo of Carlisle and three brothers-in-law, Gary Detwiler (and wife, Sue) of Newville, Elwood Detwiler (and wife, Paula) of Carlisle and Chuck Hershey (and wife, Phyllis) of Bigglerville.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Randall L. Zook officiating. A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
