Harold Laughman, 73, of Carlisle, was Promoted to Glory on Saturday morning, December 3, 2016 following an extensive battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born January 18, 1943 in Carlisle, the son of the late Harry A. and Myrtle (Bayer) Laughman.
Harold is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darlene M. (Yocum) Laughman; daughters Rhonda S. Laughman of Newark, DE, and Angela Bumbarger (David) of Carlisle; grandchildren Andrew and Elizabeth Bumbarger; brothers Harry L. Laughman (Beatrice) and Richard Laughman, of Carlisle, George Laughman (Doris) of Newville, and Gerald Laughman of Juniata County; and sisters Kathleen Walters of Newville, Sylvia Brandt of Newburg, Mary Lou Shoemaker (J. Richard) and Nancy Mummau of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harold and Darlene attended Doubling Gap First Church of God, in Newville. He retired from Plainfield Elementary School, where he worked as the custodian for 26 years, and will be fondly remembered by staff and students alike for his kindness, empathy, and laughter. A loyal man, Harold was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Harold enjoyed and appreciated the importance of family, especially the love he held for his grandchildren, and knew the Blessings and Glory of the Lord.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 12pm, at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013. Rev. Donald C. Snyder and Rev. Dale Miller will be officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 10:00am until the time of services.
Interment will immediately follow at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery – 210 Brick Church Rd. Newville, PA 17241. After committal, a Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at the Doubling Gap Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Harold to the Gesse School at Doubling Gap Church of God - 50 McCrea Rd. Newville, PA 17241, and to St. Judes - Memorial and Honor Gifts, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
