Harold B. (Gibby) Gibb, Jr.

Harold "Gibby" B. Gibb, Jr., 80, of Carlisle, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at his home.
Born August 1, 1934 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Harold B., Sr. and Ruth Bishop Gibb.
He was a graduate of Carlisle High School Class of '52. Harold was employed as a custom home builder and remodeling contractor and president of Carlisle Kitchen Center, Inc., Carlisle. He was a retired officer of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He was also a member of the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and National Home Builder Association. Harold served two years as president of the Harrisburg Association and served on all of three organizations board of directors, Societies of Certified Kitchen Dealers and member of the Local and National Associations of Kitchen and Bath Dealers. A life member of the Pennsylvania and National Guard Association. A life member of the Elks BPO Lodge #578, life member of Tall Cedar Lodge #88, a member of the Cumberland Star Lodge #197, a member of the Harrisburg Consistory 32º, a member of the Carlisle Rotary Club, a member of the American Legion Post #101, Carlisle, a member of the VFW Post #477, Carlisle, and a member of the MOAA. Harold served a number of years on the North Middletown Planning Commission and a couple of years as its president. He served many years as a member of the Carlisle High School Vocational Advisory Board. He loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. Harold was blessed to have his wife and two sons together in business. He liked golf, boating and being outdoors in the mountains.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-eight years, Dolores Miller Gibb of Carlisle; two sons, Steven A. Gibb (and wife, Stacey) and Douglas L. Gibb both of Newville; one brother, Charles A. Gibb (and wife, Isabelle) of Boiling Springs; one sister Doris J. Stewart (and husband, George) of Carlisle; sister-in-law, Nancy Gibb of Carlisle; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.. He was preceded in death by one brother, Marlin L. Gibb.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday October, 10, 2014 at Brethren In Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle with Rev. James E. VanZandt, and Rev. John L. Shellenberger officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2014 and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service, both at the church.
