H. Richard "Dick" Gutshall

May 21, 1923 — November 30, 2015

H. Richard "Dick" Gutshall, age 92, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Chapel Pointe, Carlisle.
He was born on May 21, 1923 in Carlisle Springs to the late Harris and Nellie Reed Gutshall.
Dick graduated from Carlisle High School, Class of 1941 and retired in 1993 as a Partner and President of Gutshall's Inc., Carlisle. His love and pride of John Deere followed into his retirement as he appraised, collected and restored over 100 John Deere 2 cylinder tractors. He is best remembered for his love of God, hard work and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his benevolence towards others. Dick demonstrated his faithful life-long service to God through his involvement with St. Matthew United Church of Christ and the Carlisle First Church of God as a Council Elder and a Sunday school teacher. He also served on the Middlesex Township Water/Sewer Authority. He was a charter member of the Cumberland Valley School Board, a member of the Carlisle Fair Association and the PA Farm Equipment Dealers Association, the Carlisle Elks Lodge, # 578 and was a member of the Black Springs Gun Club in Huntington County.
He is survived by his wife Betty A. Shearer Gutshall of Carlisle; two daughters, Julie G. (and husband John) Gross of Boiling Springs and Elizabeth A. "Sprink" (and husband Bill) Walters of Pawleys Island, SC; two sons, Richard L. "Jake" (and wife Bonnie) Gutshall of Carlisle and H. Michael (and wife Vickie) Gutshall of Oak Hill, VA; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Getty and two brothers, Glen Gutshall and Robert Gutshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale Street, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Michael Poe officiating. Burial will be at Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. There will be a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale St., Carlisle, PA 17013 or to the Carlisle Salvation Army, 20 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
