Grace G. Shughart

Grace G. Shughart, age 99, of Carlisle, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Chapel Pointe of Carlisle.
She was born March 19, 1918 in Neelyton, PA to the late Mark and Maggie (Gamble) Worthington and was the widow of Edgar William Shughart who passed November 12, 2003.
Grace had worked at the former Lehman’s Fashion Store, Carlisle and then worked at Dickinson College in the housekeeping department. She was also a self-employed seamstress and worked at Penrose Cleaners in Carlisle for 8 years following her employment at Dickinson. Grace was a longtime member of The Meeting House-Carlisle Campus where she was a member of the Church Missionary Society and the Volunteer Fellowship Class. She helped with the Pioneer Girls Club and was a Sunday school teacher for the former Brethren in Christ Church for over 25 years. She was a member of AARP. Grace’s greatest loves were; The Lord, her sewing, her family and gardening.
She is survived by: a son, Donald (wife Karen) Shughart of Carlisle; a daughter, Beverly (husband Brad) Barger of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, Julie, Daniel, Jennifer, David, Tracey, Kristi and Chad; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by: a sister, Clara Dyarman; two brothers, Ellis Worthington and Russell Gamble; and her son-in-law, William Waggoner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Kenneth O. Hoke and Rev. Alan Robinson co-officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
