Gloria Jean Smith, 67 of Mechanicsburg, died Thursday, December 16, 2014 in her home.

Born October 28, 1946 in Hartland, ME, she was a daughter of Phyllis Cooley Varney, Wallingford, CT and the late Merlin Varney.

Gloria earned her Pennsylvania Real Estate license and worked for Jack Gaughn Realty for 25 years. She is licensed beautician in the state of Connecticut and still occasionally practiced as a hairdresser. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Yalesville, CT and the Sertoma Club, Carlisle. Gloria was a facilitator at the YWCA for the Divorced Personal Support Group.

Surviving are her husband of seven years, Jeffrey Smith, Mechanicsburg, two sons, Donald Anklam and his partner Mark Smith, Harrisburg and Darren Anklam and his wife Jennifer, Farmingham, MA, a sister, Vicky Barnes and her husband Walter, Wallingford, CT, a granddaughter, Allison Anklam, Farmingham, MA, two-stepdaughters, Kelly Smith, Milford, DE and Kristin Stine and her husband Jimmy, Shippensburg, two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Diller and a step-great-granddaughter, Bayleigh. She was preceded in death by a brother Ronald Varney.
A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, January 20, 2014 in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle with Robin Fero officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm Monday until the time of the service in the funeral home.
