Gloria A. Barnes, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, January 21 at UPMC Carlisle Hospital at the age of 83 while surrounded by her loving family. Born March 8, 1940 in Cornwall, NY, she was the daughter of the late Claire and Angelina (Colle) Cornell.
She was a former member of the Great Hope Baptist Church, Carlisle. She worked for over nine years as a kitchen and dietary worker and server at Chapel Pointe of Carlisle. Prior to that, she worked as a cashier for Weis Markets and also a waitress and hostess for the Former Embers Convention Center, Carlisle.
Gloria is survived by daughters Nina Shank of Newburg; Gigi Galloway (Gerard) of Plantation, FL; Shana Peery of Carlisle; Kim Taylor (Rick) of Phoenixville, PA; and Barbara Barnes Atwood, of State College. A son, Woodie Barnes McWhirter (Jeffrey), of St. Petersburg, FL also survives her. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren in addition to a niece Holly.
Her sister, Patricia Kozachuk, predeceased her.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
