Glenna Rene Sorrell, age 52, of Carlisle, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at her home.
She was born December 5, 1964 in Tempe, AZ to John D. Seesholtz of Glendale, AZ and Georgia C. Tenberg of Mesa, AZ.
Glenna retired as a Staff Sergeant from the United States Army after 20 years of service. She continued her career as an Administrative Assistant at the United States Army War College. Formerly of Tempe, AZ, her military assignments took her to: Fort Jackson, SC; Fort Gordon, GA; Fort Riley, KS; Stuttgart, Germany; Fort Bliss, TX; White Sands, NM; Fort Rucker, AL; Seoul, Korea; Fort Carson, CO; and then to the Carlisle Barracks. She had been a resident of Carlisle since 2000. Glenna’s family meant the most to her, especially her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Glenna is survived by: two daughters, Glenna R. Sorrell of Carlisle and Tonesha S. Sorrell of Fort Bragg, NC; a son, Garrett J. (wife, Michael) Sorrell of Camp Lejeune, NC; two granddaughters, Asuka R. and Milla L. Sorrell; two brothers, David Seesholtz of Mesa, AZ and Nathan Burgess of Burke, VA; and two sisters, Julia Thomas and Ronda Boyle, both of Butte, MT.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the gazebo on the campus of the US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA with Chaplain Jerry C. Sieg and Pastor Don Watkins co-officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be a viewing from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the US Army War College Memorial Chapel, Carlisle Barracks, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PA Wounded Warriors, Inc., 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
