Glenn A. Spencer, age 62, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 30, 1955 in Kansas City, KS to Florance (Umbenhower) Spencer of Kansas and the late Willard Spencer.
Glenn proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a heavy haul truck driver for over 30 years with Daily Express, Carlisle and later with Trans American Trucking Service, New Jersey until his retirement. He was a mechanic and drag race enthusiast who raced his 1964 Nova at a number of local drag strips. Glenn loved riding his motorcycle with friends, woodworking and cooking. He was a member of the Carlisle American Legion, Post 101. Glenn was generous to everyone and was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie L. (Hicks) Spencer of Carlisle; a son, Glenn A. Spencer, Jr. of OH; a daughter, Joey M. Spencer of OH; a step-daughter, Christina R. Harris of McConellsburg; five grandchildren, Cordell, Glenn III, Alexis, Xavier and Emma; and two brothers, Howard A. (wife Sherri) Spencer of KS and Allen S. (wife Kristina) Spencer of WA. In addition to his father, Glenn was preceded in death by a grandson, William and a sister, Gale.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
