Gladys May Heiges, 94, of Carlisle, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
Born May 24, 1920 in West Pennsboro Township, she was a daughter of the late Elmer S. and Gertrude Miller Calaman and the widow of George D. Heiges.
She was employed for thirty-four years by Bedford Shoe Company, Carlisle. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle where she was a Sunday School teacher in the Beginners Department. Gladys was a square dancer for many years and belonged to Whirl-a-Ways Square Dance Club. She always enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are one son, Sonny D. Heiges (and wife, Phyllis) of Carlisle; two daughters, Evelyn Kelly (and husband, Luther) of Kansas, May Rynard (and husband, Jay) of Carlisle, one son-in-law, Ronald Greenwood of Florida; three step-sisters, Bertha Grippen of Newville, Theresa Smith of North Carolina, and Patricia Newhouse of Hershey; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five step-brothers; one step-sister; one daughter, Helen Greenwood; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the funeral home.
