Gladys Armstrong Shughart, age 96, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Church of God Home.
She was born September 25, 1920 in Mechanicsburg to the late Blain Albert and Mary Rebecca (Armstrong) Shughart.
Gladys was a 1938 graduate of Carlisle High School and was a retired federal employee at the US Army War College. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society US Daughters of 1812, Daughters of the American Colonists, several area historical societies, a life-member of the YWCA, AARP and a long-time member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Landisburg, PA. Grace enjoyed music, playing the piano and drums. She always liked to keep the beat.
She is survived by several second cousins and a special friend, Terry Nickey of Carlisle.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Church of God Home Chapel, 801 N. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA with Chaplain Bradley V. Moore officiating. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Churchtown, PA.
