Geraldine J. "Nan" Engle

Geraldine J. “Nan” Engle, age 87, of Carlisle and formerly of Churchtown, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Claremont Nursing & Rehab Center.
She was born October 20, 1929 in Plainfield to the late William and M. Isabelle (Miller) Taylor and was the widow of Robert D. Engle, Sr. who passed July 19, 1996.
Geraldine retired from the US Army War College and had previously worked at the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot and the Bon Ton Department Store. She was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, Class of 1948, and was an active member of their alumni association. From her early childhood to her marriage to her late husband, Nan was a very active member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Churchtown. Family meant the most to Gerry, not only her immediate family members, but her nieces, nephews, cousins and their families and friends as well.
She is survived by: her son, Robert D. (and wife Ronda) Engle, Jr. of Mechanicsburg; one sister, Joyce Ritter of Boiling Springs; a brother, Dale (and wife Gertrude) Taylor of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Michelle Fagnani, Kristen Engle, Robert G. Engle, Amy Rimmer and Brett Billow; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Geraldine was preceded in death by two brothers, Cletus and Warren Taylor and three sisters, Alma Surber, Phyllis Tyndell and Virgia Grosz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Deborah L. Brumbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Churchtown. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 325 Old Stone House Road, Boiling Springs, PA 17007.
