Gerald Eugene Swigert

Gerald Eugene Swigert, 85, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home.
Born September 27, 1927 in Newville, he was a son of the late Raymond and Myrtle Lehman Swigert.
He worked for Carlisle Tire and Rubber where he received an award for twenty-five years of perfect attendance. He also worked his own farm while working for Carlisle Tire and Rubber. Gerald was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Plainfield. Also, a member of AARP. one of Gerald’s passions was street rod’s.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Marlene Swigert of Carlisle; two sons, Michael Swigert of Carlisle and Robert Swigert (and wife, Ellen) of Newville; two grandchildren, Casey Swigert (and wife, Sarah) and Summer Swigert; and one great-granddaughter, Sutton Swigert. He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Albright.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday March 11, 2013 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Jerri Morton-Carlin officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the funeral home and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
