Gerald E. "Jerry" Smith, Sr.

Gerald E. "Jerry" Smith, Sr., 71, of Carlisle, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born April 7, 1942 in New Germantown, he was a son of the late Richard G. and Betty Nace Smith.
Gerald retired from AMP. He served his country in the Army National Guard Reserves. He was a member of the American Legion Post 421, Newville and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299, Carlisle. Jerry was a member of Huntsdale Church of the Brethren. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-two years, Barbara Smith of Carlisle; one son, Gerald E. Smith Jr. (and wife, Deedee) of Camp Hill; one daughter, Elizabeth A. Lopez (and husband, Juan) of Chula Vista, CA; four step-children, John W. Haulman, Jr. (and wife, Cindy) of Tarpon Springs, FL, Wonda K. Watson (and husband, Daryl) of Shippensburg, Jeffrey S. Haulman, Sr. of Carlisle, and Jason Haulman of Carlisle; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Patricia, Celia, and Shirley; and two brothers, Mike and Greg. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Natasha Haulman.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
