George W. Wert

George W. Wert, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Manor Care Health Services, Carlisle.
He was born October 17, 1937 in Carlisle to the late Charles W. and Erma M. (Putt) Wert.
George was a farmer all of his life. He also worked for United Telephone / Sprint until he retired.
George is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary E. “Betty” (Smee) Wert of Carlisle; two daughters, Shirley A. (husband Steve) Wickard of Carlisle and Sheila L. (husband Joe) Collins of Carlisle; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy L. Wert and one sister, Martha R. Wert.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019 at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Randall Zook officiating. Burial will follow at North Middleton Church of God Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. George’s family requests casual attire be worn by those in attendance.
