George R. Santoff, Sr., 95, formerly of Spring Hill, FL, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Thornwald Home, Carlisle.
He was born August 31, 1919 in Braddock, PA (Allegheny County) to the late Aram and Anna Mae Gravatt Santoff.
George retired from the former PA Railroad and Conrail Railroad after 38 years of service as a supervisor for communications and signals. He honorable served in the United States Army Signal Corps in the Philippines during World War II. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Spring Hill, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Ada M. Righi Santoff of Thornwald Home, Carlisle; two sons, George R. (and wife Kay) Santoff, Jr of Carlisle and Gerald Santoff of Arcade, NY; one daughter, Cheryl (and husband Robert) Myers of Camp Hill; five grandchildren, Matthew (and wife Becky) Santoff of Lewisberry, Dr. Robert (and wife Christine) Myers of Camp Hill, Jeffrey Santoff of AR, Sheri (and husband Scott) Virga of Chaffee, NY and Robbie (and wife Dana) Santoff of Sandusky, NY; nine great-grandchildren, Brittney, Jacob, Jadon, Tyler, Carey, Amanda, Jared, Josh and Elise. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sue Santoff.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Thornwald Home Chapel, 442 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA with Father William C. Forrey officiating. Interment will be private at Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery, Annville.
