Gary Davis Mitchell, 67, of Carlisle passed away unexpectantly on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his residence.
He was born December 5, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late William and Terry (Anderson) Mitchell.
Gary honorably served in the US Navy. He was a member of the Mechanics Union and American Legion. Recently retired, he took great pleasure in simply being at, and taking care of, his home and spending time with his wife. Working around the house, going to the drive-in (especially for the Marvel movies and to get cheesy fries!), and taking care of his cars, were some of his greatest pleasures.
If you were in his inner circle, you could not have had a better man on your side. He could fix anything, he would do anything for the people he cared for, and everyone he interacted with came away with some new piece of knowledge.
Few have made as significant an impact on other people’s lives as Gary Mitchell has over the years. His lessons and “Garyisms” will be missed by all who have been lucky enough to have known him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary (Bartkovich) Mitchell; son, Christopher Mitchell; his brother Richard Mitchell, and Aunt Joy Groves-Fehrs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Faith Mitchell.
Per the family’s wishes, memorial services will be held at a later date.
