Gary D. Snyder, 81, of Carlisle, died Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle with his loving family by his side.
He was born on December 22, 1933, in Middleburg, PA to the late Peron and Myra (Dinius) Snyder.
Gary was the retired Director of Food Services for Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA. He was a graduate of Penn State University, Class of 1955, was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a Democratic committee man in Carlisle. Gary enjoyed Penn State football, all types of sports, foods and grocery shopping. But most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annabelle (Steinmetz) Snyder of Carlisle; two daughters, Cindy A. Young, Carlisle and Susan (and husband Rob) S. Sachs of Stamford, CT.; two sons, David E. Snyder of Carlisle and Jeffrey (and wife Sandra) E. Coleman of Kill Devil Hills, NC; two brothers, Dan Snyder of Sarasota, FL and Rodney Snyder of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Jacqueline, David, Danny and Betsy. He was preceded by his parents, two brothers, Philip and Timothy Snyder and a sister, Sandra Miller.
Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 118 State Street, Harrisburg, PA with the Rev. Lawrence E. Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 118 State Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101.
