G. Leon Cornman, age 86, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 in Forest Park Health Care Center, Carlisle, PA.
He was born in Carlisle, PA on September 29, 1928 to the late Clarence and Clara Jane Kutz Cornman. Leon had retired from the former Carlisle Tire and Rubber after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church of Plainfield, PA and also a member of the Henry Chapel at Chapel Pointe of Carlisle.
Leon enjoyed hunting and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate and Dallas Cowboy fan. But most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his loving family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Katherine E. Schaeffer Cornman of Carlisle PA, three daughters, L. Diane Cornman (husband Ray) of Carlisle, Deborah K. (husband Chester) Lebo, Jr. of Carlisle, PA, Donna S. (husband Gordon) Ocker of Conway, SC, three sons, David A. Cornman and wife Dianne of Newburg, PA, Donald L. Cornman and wife Trudy of Carlisle, PA and Douglas E. Cornman and wife Jane of South Harbor, ME; twelve grandchildren and eighteen grandchildren.
He was preceded by five brothers, Earl, Kenneth, Harold, Paul and Robert Cornman, a sister Mirian Simmons and a great grandson Jackson Cornman.
Private graveside services will be held at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Walter Frankenberry and Reverend Steve Motter officiating.
Celebration of life services for Leon will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bedford Terrace at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, 770 South Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013. Arrangements are being handled by the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory.
