Faith F. (Farber) Smith, 96 years of age died on Monday, October 21, 2019 at her residence in Carlisle, PA with her loving son and daughter by her side. She was born on January 31, 1923 in Altoona, PA to the late Clarence H. and Grace E. Kimmel Farber. Faith and her late husband Thomas F. Smith, Sr. had resided in the Central PA area for 39 years living in Altoona, Sunbury and Akron, PA.
Prior to moving to Carlisle, PA, Faith had resided in Jacksonville, FL, for 38 years with her late husband Thomas. While living in Florida, Faith was a teacher’s aide in the Jacksonville Public School System.
Faith was a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church and the St. Ann’s Circle of the Church in Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Mayflower Society and the Blair County (PA) Geneological Society. Faith was proud of her heritage; being a descendant of Myles Standish, William Mullers and Henry Sampson, our forefathers.
She is survived by a son John M. Smith and his wife Elizabeth of Knoxville, TN, a daughter, Barbara LaMont and her husband Wayne of New Bloomfield, PA, a sister, Carol Unsworth of Royal Oaks, Michigan, ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Faith was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas F. Smith, Jr., and William B. Smith; one daughter, Jane Coleman Smith Conselice, one brother and two sisters.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr. Carlisle, PA with the Rev. Tiburtis A. Raja as Celebrant. There will be a visitation at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Private interment will be held at the Grandview Cemetery, Altoona, PA at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in Faith’s name be made to the National World War II Memorial, 1964 Independence Ave. SW, Washington, DC 20227.
Arrangements are being handled by the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA.
