Eugene “Gene” C. Mlynek, age 69, of Boiling Springs, passed Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at his residence with his family at his side.
He was born in Harrisburg, PA on June 25, 1949 to the late Wanda Mlynek.
Gene retired from the Penn Central, Conrail, and Norfolk Southern Railroads as a Train Dispatcher after 38 years of service. Gene honorably served his country during the Vietnam conflict with the U.S. Navy. Gene’s interests were hunting, fishing, and woodworking. His loving family meant the most to him, especially those visits from his granddaughter Katlynn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Leona S. Radowski Mlynek of Boiling Springs; a daughter, Michele L. Thorn, and her daughter, Katlynn R. Thorn of Carlisle, two sons, David C. and Eric C. Mlynek, both of Manchester, CT; a half-brother, John Emerick and wife Julie of Bethlehem, PA; a half-sister, Valeria Hassall of Whiting, NJ; one nephew, and three nieces.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:30 am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with Rev. Bruce Fensterbrush officiating. For those who will be attending the graveside services, plan to meet at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:00 am to go to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Kidney Foundation, 900 S Arlington Ave #134a, Harrisburg, PA 17109, and the Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Dr. #900, Arlington, VA 22202.
