Ethel H. Lewis

Ethel H. Lewis, age 95, of Carlisle, passed to her Eternal Home on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Church of God Home in Carlisle.
She was born on August 29, 1920 in Van Wert County, OH to the late Nathan LeRoy and Anna Laura Stover Ritchie. She was the widow of the late Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lewis who passed on December 31, 2008 and to whom she was married for 66 years.
Ethel was the youngest daughter of nine children. She was a graduate of Middle Point High School and Findlay College in Findlay, OH. She was a retired secretary and pastor's wife and a member of the Middletown Church of God, Middletown, PA. During the ministry of her husband in the various churches he served, she was an Adult Sunday School teacher and Bible Study teacher. She served within the local, state and General Conference levels of the Women's Christian Service Council as Chairlady of several commissions. During her last nine years of voluntary services, she served as Editor of the Church Advocate, WCSC Supplement.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue A. (and husband Clyde) Suloff of Lititz and Barbara Jo (and husband J. Patrick) Taylor of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Steven (and wife Stephanie) Suloff, William (and wife Laura) Taylor and Laura (and husband Mark) Privette; great-grandchildren, Katie, Andrew and Erin Taylor, Caleb Joseph and Hannah Privette and Kaelin and Bree Suloff; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel was preceded in death by her four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Church of God Home, 801 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA with Rev. Bradley V. Moore officiating. Private burial will be at the Middletown Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the Church of God Home Chapel on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Winebrenner Theological Seminary, 950 N. Main Street, Findlay, OH 45840.
