Ethel D. Price

Ethel D. (Varner) Price, 88, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle. She was born August 21, 1925 in Salix, PA, a daughter of the late Lovenis and Anne (Berkebile) Varner.

Orphaned at a young age, Ethel was raised by her Aunt Minerva and Uncle Irwin Allen of Richland Township. She attended Richland Township Schools. She worked at the former Penn Traffic Department Store, Johnstown, PA. She enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, and preparing dinners for family and friends. She was a former member of Vinco Brethren Church and Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren and a current member of Carlisle First Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are three sons, Robert M. Price Jr. Elkins (and his wife, Cheryl) of WV, David L. Price (and his wife, Mary) of Boiling Springs, and Donald K. Price (and his fiancée, Sharon Carpenter) of Enola; one daughter, Connie S. Belsinger (and husband, Ray) of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren: Lisa Kaiser, Chris Price, Jennifer Richardson, Becky Hoffman, Julie Bennett, and Jonathan Price; and four great-grandchildren: Hannah Richardson, Kyle Richardson, Madeline Hoffman, and Mia Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert M. Price Sr.; infant son, Jon; four brothers: Algie J. Varner, Albertus L. Varner, Earl C. Varner, and Gerald W. Varner; one sister, Martha B. Brewer; and one granddaughter, Susan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013 at First Church of the Brethren, 1340 Forge Road, Carlisle with Rev. Jim and Rev. Marla Abe officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday at Dunmyer Cemetery, Salix, PA.
