Esther Virginia Goodyear

Esther Virginia Goodyear passed on December 25, 2023.

She was born on September 17, 1918, to Lettie Violet (Holler) Woods and George Loy Woods at Harrisburg hospital which they were scared to go to for her birth as it was during the worst time of the Spanish Flu endemic. She was brought up on a farm located at 328 West Old York Road (RT 174) Carlisle, Pa, were she thoroughly enjoyed her rural life with her two brothers Norman Weir Woods and Paul Holler Woods and sisters Mary Romaine Ilgenfritz and Helen Lenore Dum all who preceded her in death. On October 14, 1939, she married the love of her life Francis Lee Goodyear from Carlisle, Pa., for exactly 73 wonderful years until his passing on October 14, 2012. She is survived by her two sons Richard Lee Goodyear and wife Kathy from Santa Fe, NM and Donald Eugene Goodyear from Carlisle, Pa, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions can be made to St Paul Lutheran Church, 201 West Louther Street Carlisle, PA 17013, where she was a devoted follower and contributor throughout her entire life.
