Esther B. Givler, age 83, of Boiling Springs, our beloved mother, went home to be with the Lord, on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at her residence.
She was born on May 20, 1932 in Boiling Springs to the late Ray and Hilda Mae Brenneman Givler.
Esther was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School. She was one of the original group of people to be employed at the PPG Plant in Carlisle when it opened in the early 1970's. She attended the Churchtown Mennonite Church and was a faithful Christian. Esther was well versed in the Book of Revelation. She enjoyed her discussions of world events pertaining to the scriptures. In her earlier years, she was an excellent self-employed seamstress. She enjoyed researching and charting her family genealogy, landscaping, gardening and her natural habitat. Esther had a special fondness for animals, especially her cats. She had taken woodworking classes and enjoyed building projects. She was a recycling advocate and was also a very proud owner of her 1961 Imperial Coupe.
She is survived by a son, Wendell E. Gross of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Betty J. (and husband William) Heckert of Mechanicsburg; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Givler; three nieces, Dian Myers, Donna Baum and Debra Biddington; and a nephew Robert Monty. She was preceded by a brother, Lawrence Givler and two sisters, Gladys Givler and Darlene Givler Monty.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Churchtown Mennonite Church, 1341 Church St. Carlisle, PA with Revs. John Brubaker, Nevin Weaver, Wilbur Shank and Wendell Eberly officiating. Interment will be at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. There will be no viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Churchtown Mennonite Church, 1341 Church Street, Carlisle, PA 17015 or to Furry Friends, PO Box 519, Boiling Springs, PA 17007.
