Esther B. Chronister

Esther B. Chronister, age 99, of Boiling Springs, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on September 26, 1916 in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Frank and Viola Hartman Smee. Esther was married to the late Paul W. Chronister who died on November 13, 2004. They were married for 63 years.
After graduating from Boiling Springs High School, Class of 1936, she earned her Beauty Culture license from the Harrisburg School of Beauty Culture. She was employed at the former Hazel Hoyaux Beauty Salon in Carlisle for several years. Esther especially enjoyed being a homemaker and working on the family farm with her husband. She enjoyed flower gardening, vegetable gardening, painting, sewing and being outdoors. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and its Sunday school class.
Esther is survived by her son, Lee (and wife Lana) Chronister of Boiling Springs; her grandson, Adam (and wife Deanna) Chronister and their son, Levi of Landisburg; two nieces; and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Walter Jacoby.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 647 Forge Road, Carlisle, PA 17015 with her Pastor, Rev. Daniel L. Dennis officiating. Interment will be in Longsdorf Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services.
