Ernest R. Forbes, Jr., age 75, of Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017.
He was born November 4, 1941 in Atlantic City, NJ to the late Ernest R. Sr. and Katherine (Payne) Forbes.
Ernest attended Atlantic City High School and completed his GED at the US Army War College. He proudly served in the United States Army, 8th Infantry, serving at Rose Barracks, Germany and the U.S. Army War College. He retired from PPG Industries after 32 years of service as a GMM. He also worked security for the Bon-Ton and Crossroads Entertainment. Ernest worked part-time for Allenberry Playhouse, The Embers, Hooke & Suter and Appalachian Harley-Davidson. Ernest was quite the sportsman. He played semi-pro football for the Harrisburg CAPS, enjoyed skiing, fishing, skeet shooting and received archery awards from Bowhunter competitions and target shooting awards at I.P.S.C. shoots. He was a member of the Carlisle Fish & Game, Carlisle Gun Club, American Legion Post #101, NRA, Gold's Gym and was den leader for BSA, Cub Pack #189.
He is survived by: his wife and constant companion, Marie Bousum-Forbes; and his son, Chris Forbes.
Per Ernest's request, there will be no service or visitation. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
