Emma N. Nelson

Emma N. Nelson, 76, of Carlisle passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle. She was born on Tuesday, December 22, 1942 in Cumberland County, PA the daughter of the late Jesse and Vesta F. (Watson) Raudabaugh and the widow of George Nelson who passed on December 28, 1985. They were married for 22 years and were known as Aunt Emma and Uncle George.

She graduated from Carlisle High School, Class of 1962. Emma worked at Dillsburg Shoe, Troy Laundry and retired from Lear Corporation after 33 years. After retirement from Lear, she worked for five years in the lunch room of the Carlisle School District. Emma grew up at Bethel Assembly of God, Carlisle and was currently a member of the Orchard Springs Fellowship church. Emma enjoyed showing her Patriotic spirit, knitting, spending time with family, family reunions, her cats, brothers, nieces and nephews. She was known for her fudge and chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. The chocolate cake recipe was handed down from her mother.

Surviving are three brothers: Vernon, Kenneth and Lynn Raudabaugh and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Charlotte and Viola, and by six brothers: Jesse, Harold, Marlin, Arnold, Maynard, and Dale Raudabaugh.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Tony DeRosa officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
