Elwood Eugene Detwiler

Elwood Detwiler, of Carlisle, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the age of 71. Born in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Keller and Elizabeth Hershey Detwiler.

Elwood worked for Carlisle Tire and Rubber until they relocated.

He enjoyed car and tractor shows, drag races and woodworking.

He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Elwood is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paula, his son: Jeff Detwiler (Catherin), 2 grandchildren, his sister: Shirley Detwiler Bowers, his brothers: Charles Hershey (Phyllis) and Gary Detwiler (Sue), as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Richard Hershey and Donald Eugene Detwiler, his sisters: Betty Detwiler Lebo, Gloria Jean Detwiler May, Nancy Detwiler Paxton and Mary Jo Detwiler Tuckey.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at New Life Community Church, 64 East North Street, Carlisle, where the family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
