Elmer R. Warner Jr., 86, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in his home.
He was born June 2, 1933 in Hogestown to the late Elmer R. Sr. and Evora (Rohland) Warner.
Elmer was a 1950 graduate of Carlisle High School. He honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Elmer was formerly employed by Dauphin Deposit Bank and retired from Giant Foods after a career of more than 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and coaching his son’s baseball teams. Elmer loved the outdoors, trees, and camping with his family. He was a member of VFW Post #477, Elks Lodge 578, FOE Aerie #1299, Moose Lodge 761, all in Carlisle. Elmer was a member of the Cumberland County Historical Society and the Perry Historians. Elmer and his wife recently joined Waggoners United Methodist Church after attending for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jean J. Warner of Carlisle; two sons, Stephen J. Warner of Newport and Scot R. (wife Tina) Warner of Carlisle; three grandchildren, Jacob S. (wife Louise) Warner of Newport, Andrea M. Warner (significant other Brandon Barnes) of Carlisle and Addison R. Warner of Washington; one step-granddaughter, Jordan A. (husband Sean) Russell of Blain; and two great-grandchildren, Deklan and Lillian.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Dr. Richard E. Dennison Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Westminster Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
