Elmer David "Sonny" Heiges

Elmer D. “Sonny” Heiges, 75, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital.

He was born March 3, 1945 to the late George and Gladys (Calaman) Heiges.

Sonny served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a mason tender in the construction industry. He was a member of the American Legion 101, White Circle Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion 101 Pool Team. He enjoyed watching western movies, was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins, and a jack-of-all-trades. However, his greatest loves in life were his grandchildren and shooting pool.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Phyllis; children, Tina L. Otto and husband James, Lisa M. Heiges and fiance Ron Hockenberry, Troy D. Heiges and wife Terri; step-children, Teri Conklin and husband Donald, and Kevin E. Hockenberry; sisters, Evelyn Kelly, and May Rynard and husband Jay; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Helen Greenwood and one grandchild.

Due to current circumstances, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Westminster Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
