Ellsworth Gernard “Ellsyâ€Â Minich, 76 of Carlisle died Monday June 25, 2012 in his home.
Born June 15, 1936 in Carlisle, the son of the late John E. and Hazel Louise Bitner Minich.
Ellsy was the owner of Minich’s Gulf Service Station for 37 years in Carlisle. He was a former Carlisle High School football player and still enjoyed attending games. Sonny loved the horse races and the casino. He lived and worked in the town he loved and he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are a son, John Everett Minich and his wife Joanne, Mechanicsburg, four daughters, Barbara Jo Punda and her husband Terry, Camp Hill, Tobyann E. Curry and her husband Patrick, Dillsburg, Jennifer Minich and her husband James Williamson, Kent, WA and Wendy Keenan and her husband Andrew, Washington DC, a sister, Rosie M. Burton, eight grandchildren, Angela Burge, Emily Schwalm, Laura Punda, Elizabeth Altland, Lilyann Shipkowski, Michael Curry, Carter and Zolie Keenan, three great-grandchildren, Kalea E. Shipkowski, Owen and Lyla Burge, his former wives, Barbara Sillers Heffner and Diane Walsh Hain and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Minich and a grandson, J. Brady Minich.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, July 6, 2012 in the Waggoners United Methodist Church, 1271 Longs Gap Road, Carlisle with the Rev. Timothy A. Funk and Rev. Randall L. Zook officiating. Burial will be in Dillsburg Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle
