Ellen M. "Ellie" Hoffman

Ellen M. "Ellie" Hoffman, age 97, of Carlisle, passed away, Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Forest Park Health Care Center, Carlisle.
She was born June 2, 1919 in Harrisburg to the late John C. and Mary E. (Sterritt) Hoffman.
Ellie retired from Kinney Shoe after 45 years of service. She was a member of the former Allison United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 50 years. She was a member of the Golden Agers and the South Central Pennsylvania Sports Association. She enjoyed bowling and had been in local leagues for many years. Ellie was a fan of all sports, especially Philadelphia teams and Roller Derby. She truly enjoyed working at the concession stands at Carlisle High School sporting events. The Ellie Hoffman Award was named after her and is presented each year to an outstanding trainer in the Carlisle School District.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Ellie was preceded in death by nine siblings, Frank, William, John, Albert (Bud), Sarah, Frances, Mary, Lucy and Phoebe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Carlisle United Methodist Church, 45 S. West Street, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Mira Hewlett officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Westminster Cemetery. There will not be a viewing or visitation.
