Elizabeth "Betty" Shine

Elizabeth “Betty” Shine, 90, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle, PA. The daughter of the late Frederick and Dorothy West, Betty was born on June 29th, 1934, in Hartford, CT.

Betty is survived by her children, Daniel Shine of Middletown, RI, Mary Shine (Tom) of Staten Island, NY , Margaret Shine Campbell (Ray) of Stamford, CT, Elizabeth Cerbone (Michael) of Boiling Springs, PA, her 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and cousin, Conrad Hade (Roberta) of Southbury, CT.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents as well as a daughter-in-law, Katherine Shine and son-in-law, Mark Quinn.

Betty was a 1952 graduate of St. Mary's High School in New Haven, CT. She graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts from the College of New Rochelle, NY . She was a long time volunteer in the Activities Department at Thornwald Nursing Home in Carlisle, as well as a member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church and St. Luke’s Healthcare and Pastoral Care Ministry. She had an extensive rooster collection, loved to shop with her family and enjoyed opportunities to travel to Ireland and Italy. 

Betty was a loyal and cherished friend to many, devoted to her family and Catholic faith. The family wishes to express theirdeepest gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, nursing assistants and other healthcare clinicians who provided compassionate care as it was needed throughout her long life.
